The local bus to Pai leaves Chiang Mai at 7am, 9am, 10.30am, 2pm and 4pm daily. The journey takes about 3 and a half to 4 hours. The price is 80 Baht per ride per person. You may have to queue up for seats on a busy day, so make sure you leave enough time to get your ticket to avoid the fuss.

If you missed the bus or preferred travelling with a smaller group of people then try the 14-seater minibus. From Chiang Mai, these leave at the top of the hour between 8am and 4pm and with 150 Baht paid to secure your seat, you will be in Pai in 3 hours.
